About
I’ve always seemed to have a “creative thread” woven into the fabric of my life. Even from an early age, I’d draw, color or paint. I seem to be happiest when my hands are busy. Being born and raised on the Eastern Shore, my life experiences were steeped in our culture of farming and the fishing industry. What can I say? Things like old barns, tractors and workboats just speak to me. When I’m immersed in a project, I’m transported back to a simpler time. The static and “busy-ness” of our current culture fade away; it’s my hope that my paintings have a similar effect on you.
Since 2001
I jumped on the painting bandwagon seriously around 2001. Watercolor is my “first love” and I tend to gravitate back to it; however, acrylic and oils have their own attraction. I enjoy them all and find that I learn a lesson with every project. In 2014, I was inspired by a co-worker to create a calendar incorporating some of my paintings. As of this writing, I’m drafting the twelfth annual Shorescapes calendar. It’s proven to be a challenging, surprising and fulfilling journey! I continue to be humbled and overwhelmed by the number of people I’ve had the opportunity to connect with over the years. When we glimpse a butterfly floating on the breeze, a garden in full bloom, or even the power of an approaching storm, we’ve the opportunity to consider our Creator. The surf continues to pound upon the beach and the tides ebb and flow, much like life itself. But we aren’t just random bystanders; we were each created with specific gifts and abilities for a purpose. Scripture tells us in Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” This life is full of challenges, but with GOD, nothing is impossible. I am enjoying the journey in which GOD is leading me; it’s my hope that I glorify GOD in my artwork and share the love of Jesus with those I meet. I encourage you to embrace the abilities you’ve received and engage them as you navigate your own journey. By the way, there’s a cross hidden in every original. Just a reminder that GOD is present, even in the little things… we’ll find Him when we look! Blessings, Beth
